I was thinking and wondering what your thoughts are on getting sponsors to help pay for the purses and maybe other fees. I have worked with other groups and put races up off getting out and gathering sponsors. With all the money that is spent within the cars that run in the DMPA, some of the suppliers should come on board and help keep the DMPA going. Fulton race engines,Sonnys race engines,Proline race engines,TM race cars,RJ race cars,McAmis race cars,Bickle race cars,CFE,NOS/Holly,Brandon/Speedtech,just to name a few. I realize DMPA is not ADRL but it could be. Just something to think about for saturday discussion. Thanks

Over the years there have been some sponsors on board with Dixie but I am not sure of their involvement. I think in these times with more tracks closing and the track record of trouble with booking races I think this is a great idea.
All of our members need to become more engaged in the association and what is happening around us and build Dixie into the "brand" it has all potential of being, our members are the best in the game IMO...
Permalink Reply by James Duncan on January 13, 2012 at 5:21pm Good idea Josh. Dixie started down this path about 3-4 years ago and it actually was working to a good degree for the association on the free product side.
Then for some reason the ball was completely dropped. One thing is for sure, it needs to be done in such a manner that the sponsors can recognize actual sales to and/or because of Dixie Members. My thought has always been, if it can be shown to make them money, or increase their sales, or publicity, then they will do it.. Among other things, this needs to be pushed for sure.
Dixie has no marketing package to the best of my knowledge and never has, I am working on that.
Last season we had a deal with Speedtech for gift certificates for number one and number nine qualifiers but they chose to not continue that with Dixie for unknown reasons and I think several racers were unable to redeem them when the time came. While product sponsorships are good for individual racers they do nothing toward making sure Dixie is providing the best environment we can for all involved parties. While product sponsorships are invaluable for individual racers they do nothing for the group as a whole and therefore I think they are best pursued by the individual teams.
I have made contact with several places recently in regards to this and it seems the time is now to be pursuing sponsorships for our series. Any of our members have any experience with creating a marketing package?
Permalink Reply by James Duncan on January 13, 2012 at 10:41pm Kevin, you are totally incorrect here. If you want to know something, perhaps you should ask instead of just making statements. I & other members busted our butts to get really nice products for the members at the end of the season - which were passed out at the annual membership meeting. It was good stuff, NO it was great stuff! You should have been there. 12 Custom CP pistons, a complete car computer system from Computech, drums of VP fuel, STT safety products and still, several other prizes. ALL distributed to members based upon points. So, your whole perception was wrong here.
"I & other members busted our butts to get really nice products for the members at the end of the season"
This was great and I am sure those members that received the items put them to really good use. I commend you and the others for being engaged in the association in the past.
I am however, not sure what you perceive I was incorrect in my perception about?
To the best of my knowledge Dixie does not have a file of past marketing plans, contracts and agreements for ANY type of sponsorship. (aside from speedtech in 2010)
Has Dixie had any recognizeable advertising media (Logo's, etc.) aside from the abbreviation D.P.M.A. of the association name, any merchandise or displays on site that support sponsor products, a sponsored contingency program in place that pays for running sponsor stickers and product, a sponsor program that dilutes the costs associated for tracks? No, we do not.
At this time, my statement "Dixie has no marketing package to the best of my knowledge and never has, I am working on that." is 100% correct.
I have asked in the past to find this out and was told by yourself and others "we do not" and was sent ONE old flyer (by you James, thanks again!). I have been doing this ultimately by myself for the last two years so I know if we have one or not by now. I have put some actions in motion that will help acheive some of the things sponsors typically expect and hopefully in the future Dixie will be a brand that racers, spectators and tracks can and are proud to support again...
Hope to see you at the meeting tomorrow!
